I did a little more “production” work today, including tidying up the source files for my two work-in-progress projects.
I also spent a probably-embarrassing amount of time playing around in my map editor in order to make the background a logo for the web site. Since I’m the only one at my “studio,” I have to play the roles of Art Director and Lead Artist. This is particularly difficult because I’m a programmer at heart, and art is not my strong suit.
As Art director, I’ve evaluated the style, capabilities, skills, and natural talent of my art team. After much discussion, we’ve decided to take the art for the site and at least one of the projects (codename: “Donkey”) in a very particular direction. We’ve been going in this direction for a while, but now we’ve finally decided to give it a name:
Crappy.
These were the other names we considered:
Shitty
Bad Art
Garth-Art
iBleed*
Art Garthfunkel
F-Art (where the F stands for “fucking terrible”)
* Perican’s legal team (me again; I’m the legal team) was worried about how Apple might react to that. If you ask me, they’re a bunch of scaredy-cats. It’s a moot point anyway since it’s not going to be trademarked or anything. It’s just a label we use internally, like “Project Donkey.”
Anyway, enjoy the new Crappy logo.
